[Opening Reception] HAMPI Gallery Exhibition (Orlando)

  • The Center Orlando 946 North Mills Avenue Orlando, Florida, 32803 United States (map)

HAMPI (“medicine” in Quechua) is a multilingual, multimedia, autobiographical, and autoethnographic project chronicling Coello’s journey of ancestral reconnection to the Andean cosmovision.

Based on the award-winning book of the same name, the exhibition features photographs and artifacts collected by Coello during their travels in Ecuador and Peru, along with the project’s various collaborative elements, including handmade physical poetry art books with For the Birds Trapped in Airports, illustrations with Kiki Lechuga-Dupont, textiles with LMRM, and multilingual audio with Jack Straw Cultural Center. The exhibition will be on display through September 10, 2026.

On opening day, the Raymi Dance School will perform before Coello’s own poetry reading. There will also be a Q&A with Coello.

This exhibition is made possible by support from United Arts of Central Florida. Key partners include The Center Orlando, Descolonizarte Teatro, and the University of Central Florida.
