The Society for Humanistic Anthropology is organizing an Ethnographic Listening Circle, where performers will share short pieces rooted in ethnographic experience: poems, field notes read aloud, stories, songs, monologues, scenes from interviews, verses in the language of the work, and things that defy labels.
River will be performing “ella/her,” a poem in memoriam dedicated to Kendra Cabeza, a Black, trans Ballroom performer whom they met during their pre-fieldwork visits to Ecuador.
